We are all aware of the term “E-Commerce” as it gradually established its mark on our lives. But it was not until the pandemic that people started realizing the importance of E-commerce and the convenience it brings along. With this unprecedented event taking a toll on everyone’s life, lifestyles have changed & E-Commerce has become the savior in these difficult times. 

The pandemic made an already existing industry the primary source of income for many businesses to survive and customers to source everyday lifestyle essentials paving the way for E-Commerce to become one of the most important aspects of the new normal. In corona, free times, E-Commerce or online shopping was largely restricted to Gen-Z and millennial consumers as they explored new platforms to fulfill their lifestyle needs, however, two years of this pandemic has made every person, irrespective of their age, explore the capabilities of online shopping. As all of us sat in the comfort of our homes, scared to move out even for the essential commodities, online modes conveniently delivered as per their requirement with a special “zero-contact” delivery option, winning consumer’s trust for their brand. Although physical retail is an irreplaceable experience, the convenience that online channels bring is something that the customers will find hard to let go of even after the pandemic. 

The sudden shift of the world to E-Commerce and social media was unavoidable for most brands irrespective of their size and value. If, for the consumer, it was about the convenience that led to this shift of preference, for brands it was the change in demand of consumers that pushed them to explore this area of modern retail. Many luxury brands entered the world of social media and were actively involved in engaging the customers through their platforms. Concepts like zero-contact delivery, personal shopping assistant, and virtual shopping tours were born and gained fame worldwide as brands tweaked their traditional methods to adapt to the changing lifestyles and an unprecedented crisis. 

The rise of E-commerce was never surprising and was always expected to alter the conventional ways of life, however, the pandemic has definitely given a sudden boost to an industry that would have otherwise taken its time to evolve as extensively as today. No matter what reasons led to this huge alteration, the impact of E-Commerce is now noticeable in every walk of life and is irreplaceable for brands and their consumers.
