Observed people combining two striking colors in an outfit and standing out from the crowd? You can also take advantage of this fun pairing. This concept is of color blocking and it is now used widely across the world. The idea is to combine two blocks of color that are complementary to each other on the color wheel and create a strong, and eye-catching outfit.

People use color blocking to express their style, fashion, and personality. Vibrant colors when color-blocked together express a strong and bold personality and in the same way, there are also methods to combine colors and create a look that is toned down, soft and subtle.

This year the designers in the West have also showcased color blocking in their collections taking us back to 2011. The colors making the runways are Yellow, Red, Fushia Pink, Greens, Orange, and many more. All these colors grab people’s attention in a fraction of a second. Designers and brands like Prada, Prabal Gurung, Raf Simons, etc. styled their clothes on the runway in very contrasting hues and were able to instantly make headlines.

Some combinations that you can look at for starting to color block this year are:

-Pink and Green

-Yellow and Pink

-Green and Blue

-Red and Yellow

-Pink and Red

-Purple and Green

Color blocking is also obviously not limited to one’s clothes but can also be done with accessories. Footwear can play a major role in color blocking as well. If you are a beginner to this concept and want to start with color blocking, you can always opt for a monochromatic outfit and add the hints or splash of colors through your footwear or other accessories.

Our favorite pair of footwear for women from PAIO that can be used for color blocking is our Leslie Neon Yellow Heels. Pair it with a monochromatic Pink/Green/Blue/Red outfit and you are good to go!
